The confessional before you is ornate and well maintained, ebony colored wood embellished with the visage of two angels. A jet black curtain separates the confessional from the rest of the Church, offering a surprising degree of privacy to any eavesdroppers nearby. Unlike the rest of Krakow, the inside is dimly lit by a small light bulb securely attached to the ceiling which emits a faint red light. While the atmosphere isn't exactly cozy, it is private.
A smooth voice calls out to you once you've sat down, familiar enough to identify the speaker despite the partition between you.

I find this place more interesting than most, the rules that govern it are... peculiar. But it doesn't matter much to me where I am, I've traveled to many places far and wide.

I believe it depends on exactly what happens. It's a bit hard to guess given how unpredictable those trials can be, but it seems likely that it will be necessary and someone will volunteer to take it. We've seen what it has done to Seteth, but now that we know, there may be others who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the hint.
It does also depend on who dies, however. I have a hard time seeing them willing to take the hint if it's someone they don't like or consider a threat. Many of them are self-sacrificial, but I can't see most of them pursuing "justice" for the killer if they've removed someone that could pose a threat or is otherwise a pain.
...Teru Mikami excluded, of course.

I've been curious about that as well. I suspect many of us have no real interest in determining the correct killer and would use the trials as a way to remove those who aren't beneficial to us or are otherwise deemed a threat.
Though that would be more trouble than it's worth.

As you're undoubtedly already aware, my physical strength is rather lacking, so my choice in targets is severely limited. I don't stand much of a chance of overpowering anyone, should it turn to a fight. So with that said... Shin or Yuzuru would be my preferred choices, although I don't know nearly enough about either of them to be certain any plans I'd make would work as effectively as I'd hope.
